I-15 Construction Update – August 31, 2017

Happy Labor Day!

Because of the Labor Day weekend, there will be no lane or shoulder closures Friday through Monday. Have a safe and wonderful Labor Day!

Daytime Shoulder Closures: There will be shoulder closures on the northbound I-15 express lanes connector from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 through Friday, Sept. 8, between Ontario Avenue and SR-91. This work is required to perform soil site investigations.

Underground Water Testing: Crews will be performing underground water tests on freeway shoulders and medians to measure absorption as part of the project’s storm water pollution prevention plan.

Ongoing Work: Surveying and underground utility locator crews will continue working throughout the project limits on shoulders, under bridges and around on- and off-ramps. This work is required to verify locations of existing underground utilities and physical properties which could affect elements of the project design.

I-15 Santa Ana River Bridge: Crews are performing soil testing under the Santa Ana River bridge to accommodate the future widening necessary for the I-15 Express Lanes. The work will not interfere with users of the Santa Ana River trail. The area has been posted to notify riders and hikers of possible noise from the boring rig, but it will not exceed levels permitted by local, state and federal regulations. The operation is scheduled to continue through the end of September.
